LFX Crowdfunding
The complete user guide for Crowdfunding can be found at https://docs.linuxfoundation.org/lfx/crowdfunding
My project has been approved for funding and I need to transfer existing project funds to my new LFX account.
You can transfer funds into your project by donating to your own project. You can elect to donate with a debit card from a bank account or you can request an invoice from Linux Foundation to facilitate a wire or bank transfer.
In order to request an invoice, you must donate as an organization. Select “+Add Organization” from “Funding as:”
Add your project as the company name.
Once approved, you'll be able to select "Invoice" from Payment Method.
Our Finance team will receive this request and contact you to complete the transfer into LFX. After the transfer to LFX is complete, we will update your project to reflect your donation.
Why hasn't my project been approved?
Consider the following submission guidelines:
- GitHub Project and Git Project:
- Your project is 100% open source, has more than one active contributor, and is not backed solely by a single company
- Your project has at least 100 stars on GitHub (or a comparable rating on other Git-based sources)
- You own the public Git-based repository
- You are responsible for project communications
- You will be responsible for managing payments from project funds
- You can determine fundraising goals
- Events and Travel Scholarships:
- You are responsible for the fund communications
- You will be responsible for managing payments from the funds
- You can determine fundraising goals
How can I add additional project administrators?
At this time, there can be only one project administrator.
What payment methods are accepted?
For individual donations, LFX Crowdfunding accepts credit and debit cards. Refer to the user guide.
For donations from organizations:
- Credit or debit card
- Invoice - lets you request an invoice from the Linux Foundation for your donation.
The Finance team can also work with your organization for other methods of payment such as checks.
